Before your first session

Questions people ask before starting

A few honest answers about how sessions work, at your own pace, before you ever have to ask.

Getting started

What to expect, in your own words

There is no wrong way to begin. These are the things most people wonder about before reaching out.

What happens in the first session?

We spend the time getting to know what brought you in and what you are hoping for. There is no checklist to get through - just a conversation, at whatever pace feels right.

How often do people come in?

That is worked out together, and it can change over time. Some weeks call for more support, others for less. The pace is yours.

Is what I say kept private?

Yes. What is shared in session stays between us, with the ordinary exceptions any therapist would explain plainly at the start.

What if I have been to therapy before and it did not help?

That is common, and worth telling us. Fit matters, and we would rather hear what did not work than repeat it.

Do I need to know what to say?

No. Many people arrive without the words yet. Finding them together is part of the work.

Still unsure? That is all right.

You do not need to have it figured out before you reach out. A short message is enough to start.
